As can be understood from the conferences organized by the United Nations (UN) in the last 30 years and the reports they published, climate change is the most importante environmental issue faced by each individual. Education has been targeted as a method to solve this problem as concerns about climate change are increasing. While education raises awareness about climate change, it enables individuals to change behavior, values and attitudes and helps individuals successfully adapt to various social and environmental impacts of climate change.

Climate change education, which aims to improve the education system to combat climate change, is a basic approach that develops the knowledge of climate change among students studying at primary, secondary, university and graduate levels. The purpose of climate change education is; climate literate individuals who understand the basic principles of the climate system, know how to evaluate scientifically reliable information about climate, make informed decisions that can minimize the effects of climate change, and act in a way that will help ensure sustainable societies.

Learning through education continues throughout life, creating permanent changes in the individual, independent of time and place. Nowadays, distance learning has left its place to e-learning. The most important element of success in virtual education is human resources educators and managers. 

Project Goals

  • To improve the digital lesson planning skills of educators working in secondary schools on climate change by 55%;
  • To increase the competence of the project participants on climate change education by 35%;
  • In accordance with the Climate Change Education approach, courses on climate and climate change will improve participants’ interdisciplinary skills by 40%;
  • With the e-learning platform to be prepared with the project partner institutions, approximately 600 secondary school teachers will be provided with climate change training;
  • It will increase the ability of educators to prepare pedagogies and effective materials suitable for the climate change education approach by 40%.
